Ouka earned our attention with the specialty they offer, seeing as not a lot of landscapers specialize in Zen landscapes. Their work includes karesansui (dry landscapes) and ornamental tree sculpting, which we find advantageous for Japanese-inspired landscaping.
One of their biggest strengths lies in their personalized approach. In the initial consultation, the landscaper takes time to assess the client’s lifestyle, preferences, and property layout – both Japanese landscaping and modern Western techniques are used to design the area.
We also appreciated the clarity in what’s offered. The range of offerings includes design consultation, hardscape and softscape installation, tree sculpting, and seasonal maintenance.
Most projects involve about 20 to 30 hours of labor that’s spread over several days. The pricing is clearly outlined based on design complexity, which we appreciate, considering these are high-end custom landscapes.
That said, their services may not be ideal if you’re looking for basic lawn care or rapid turnaround on a low-budget backyard refresh. Still, for those who value premium services, we consider them worth the penny.

We especially liked that their team is clearly organized and reliable. During on-site evaluations, we saw that crews arrived on time, worked efficiently, and left no mess behind. All these earned them top marks for professionalism.
The design also impressed us, whether for landscaping or services like wooden decks and pergolas. Clients noted that the process was smooth and collaborative, which is something we find most valuable for homeowners.
However, pricing can be unexpectedly high, even for smaller jobs. While the quality of work is excellent, it’s worth confirming labor estimates upfront to prevent surprising quotes.
