The 5 Best Life Insurance Agencies in Vancouver That Actually Care About You

life-insurance-agencies-in-vancouver
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Range of Policies: We considered agencies that provided various diverse policy options, including term life, whole life, and universal life insurance. We also checked whether they offered customizable plans to suit unique needs.
  • Financial Credibility: We assessed the financial strength of each insurance provider to ensure they can fulfill long-term commitments. We preferred agencies backed by well-established, financially secure companies.
  • Customer Support: We evaluated how responsive and helpful each agency is, including accessibility via phone, email, and in-person meetings. We also looked into the clarity of their policy explanations.
  • Pricing and Value: We compared premium costs across agencies to determine which ones provided competitive and reasonable pricing. We also preferred agencies that offered transparency without hidden fees or confusing terms.
  • Claims Process: We evaluated how efficiently and fairly each agency handled claims. A smooth and hassle-free claims process was a key factor for us.

Shopping for insurance isn’t really as exciting as shopping for clothes, is it? It’s one of those “adulting” responsibilities we put off until later. But the reality is, life has a way of reminding us why it matters, often when we least expect it.

That’s why finding the right agent before you need one is so important. The right professional won’t just help you secure fair rates, they’ll also guide you through the process to make sure you and your loved ones are protected.

To make things easier, we’ve done the legwork for you and looked for the best life insurance agencies in Vancouver. We want agencies that don’t treat their clients as mere numbers, so we only considered companies offering solid customer support and comprehensive consultations.

How much does life insurance cost in Vancouver?

The average cost of life insurance in Vancouver ranges from $10 to $70 per month in premiums.

The cost varies depending on the coverage and other add-ons. The age and health capacity of the insured also influence the cost of the premium.

1. Lions Peak Financial Group

Location: Suite 200 – 100 Park Royal, West Vancouver, BC, V7T 1A2
Contact: +1 855-349-7968
Website

One of the best things about Lions Peak is their no-pressure consultation. Upon speaking with them, we see that their advisors take the time to educate clients, which is something we can’t say for most agencies.

Their flexibility is a major advantage. Lions Peak sources policies from multiple providers in Canada, providing clients with access to the right life insurance product for their needs.

We also appreciate how easy and convenient it is to reach them and get their products. Clients can complete the entire process online, from consultations to application. This also allows clients to schedule meetings at their convenience.

In line with this, their approach to police selection is customized without focusing on a single insurance provider’s products. This is something we favor because clients can easily compare various options objectively.

However, there were minor instances wherein a few clients didn’t receive a follow-up once the polices were in place. Post-sale support needs improvement, although it’s important to note that this isn’t a recurring problem with the agency.

Pros

  • No-pressure consultations
  • Works with multiple insurance providers
  • Fully digital application process
  • Flexible virtual consultations from home
  • Fast policy approvals

Cons

  • Limited in-person consultation options
  • Minor issues of a lack of follow-ups

Helpful and knowledgeable team

“Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable team. Their group was able to find us great coverage at a reasonable price. Also very accommodating to our schedule for setting up meetings to discuss. We enjoyed working with this group. I highly recommend working with this brokerage if you are interested in purchasing life insurance.”

Efficient broker

“Really great experience. Chris was exceptional patient and more than willing to spend the time explaining the very many questions I had about various products. I’d recommend Chris to anyone that could use a strategist in helping decide on the insurance stack appropriate for one’s personal situation just as much as I’d recommend him to anyone who already knows exactly what they want and just wants an efficient broker who can hunt down and quickly summarize all the key terms and numbers.”

2. The ReFrame Group

Location: West Corner Office, Unit 202, 1965 W 4th Ave
Contact: +1 877-778-8455
Website

The ReFrame Group is a boutique consultancy that focuses on a people-first approach to insurance products.

One of the ways they achieve this is through their commission transparency models. This earned solid marks from us, as this means the agency discusses commission details, helping clients make informed decisions.

Other brokerage firms keep clients in the dark about this, so it makes their premium prices unclear because the commission model isn’t disclosed.

The agency’s track record is solid as well, earning our trust. As of writing, they’ve issued over 1,200 personal policies already, including 498 tailored financial plans for clients.

It’s also reassuring that, at this point, they have zero records of denied claims.

However, their boutique model means they may not have the same vast provider as larger firms, limiting policy options. Still, we find them to be a solid choice for those who prefer a more personalized experience.

Pros

  • Full commission transparent
  • Personalized insurance plans
  • 1,200+ personal policies issued
  • 21% average policy savings
  • Zero claims denied

Cons

  • Smaller provider network

Authentic, transparent, and supportive

“We chose the ReFrame Group to look after our group benefits plan because our values aligned. Working with Antonio and his team, you will find that they are authentic, transparent and supportive in their approach to customer care. They are very knowledgeable in the benefits and health and wellness space and often share additional tips and resources. Highly recommend to work with Antonio and his team!”

Extremely friendly service

“I’ve had the pleasure to work with ReFrame both as an insurance client and as a community participant in their fantastic events. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable service, giving my company the confidence to make solid insurance choices! Appreciate the comparison of different quotes, and the thoughtfulness in seeking the best policies that work for my team (not generic!). Love that the team is B Corp certified & community driven.”

3. Stratis Insurance Agency Ltd.

Location: 6481 Oak St

Opening Hours: Monday – Saturday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Website

What makes Stratis Insurance a solid agency is their level of experience. Their roots date back to 1882, ensuring a long-standing reputation that we often prefer.

In terms of customer service, one of the things we particularly appreciated is that they’re proactive with reaching out. For instance, they often send clients timely renewal reminders, allowing them to avoid any lapses and late fees.

Among the agencies we’ve reviewed, we found them to offer some of the most competitive rates. The clients we’ve spoken with even revealed to us that they secured better rates here than the competition, with premiums within their budget.

The deep ties to prominent institutions further strengthen their credibility. They’ve operated under Rand & Fowler Insurance for decades, giving them the financial stability and reliability to reassure clients.

On the rough side, we did find reports that a few clients saw unauthorized charges on their policies, particularly with add-ons they didn’t agree on. On the good side, we did find that the company has addressed these issues already with refunds.

Pros

  • Over 140 years of industry experience
  • Proactive policy renewal reminders
  • Competitive insurance rates
  • Wide range of insurance options

Cons

  • Occasional issues with unauthorized charges

Gives the best rates

“Been with them for 3 years now and they take good care of me. Reminders are great for renewal and they are also good with answering any questions. Jenny helped me get the best rate and was very patient. I recommend Stratis Insurance.”

“Jenny Zhou was incredibly helpful. Took the time to provide insights and information to my coverage without hesitation along with calling back unprompted to ensure additional details identified were not overlooked on my behalf. Very thankful for her efforts throughout!”

4. Waypoint Insurance

Location: 3295 W Broadway
Contact: +1 604-731-4684
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Website

We considered Waypoint Insurance as a trustworthy agency with their 150 years of experience. On top of that, they’re also a member of Navacord, Canada’s 3rd largest commercial insurance brokerage, which solidifies their national credibility.

In line with this, they’re able to leverage Navacord’s extensive resources. This often results in competitive rates, which, as clients reported to us, are considerably more affordable versus other large firms.

Customer service is also something that won our favor. Not only do their agents reply fast, they’re also hands-on and personalized in their approach.

For example, agents often take the time to correct discrepancies in their policies. Additionally, they keep clients in the loop with potential premium increases.

However, their company policies may make it hard to manage non-renewals, wherein clients were charged with fees just by simply opting out. We recommend reaching out to an agent instead of doing this online to prevent these issues,

Pros

  • Over 150 years of experience
  • Member of Navacord
  • 30+ locations across British Columbia
  • Wide range of insurance products
  • Competitive rates due to national backing
  • Proactive client education on policy changes
  • Quick response time

Cons

  • Poor handling of non-renewals

Personalized service

“Nelson Chow has been my insurance provider for many many years. His personalized service and in-depth insurance knowledge have great value to our family. Not only is he an expert in his field, but he’s a pleasure to work with too. My sincerest gratitude to you for all you do for us Nelson, thank you!”

Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM | Saturday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Sunday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

What we liked best about AMC Insurance is how accessible their services are, with multiple locations throughout the Lower Mainland. Clients can also visit their Vancouver office for in-person consultations or request quotes via phone or email.

Additionally, we appreciate that they offer multilingual support. To give you an idea, their advisors speak English, Chinese, Punjabi, and Persian.

Upon comparisons, we also found that AMC offers some of the most affordable insurance rates in the city.

On average, clients can save up to 40% compared to competitors. This was made possible with their claims-free discounts, bundling options, and other promotional offers.

In line with this, their partnership with top insurance carriers allows them to compare multiple plans. This won our favor as it allows clients to access more policy options and riders.

There are just a few issues when it comes to policy renewals, as those who decide not to renew their policies are charged with unexpected fees. It’s advisable to look through one’s policy to check what charges apply.

Pros

  • Wide range of insurance products
  • Competitive pricing
  • Savings up to 40%
  • Multiple locations
  • Multilingual service
  • Claims-free and bundling discounts available
  • Partnered with top insurance carriers
  • In-person and online consultations

Cons

  • Minor issues of unexpected cancellation fees

Outstanding customer service

“I recomend this location because evertime I call, the service is quick profesional and very efficient. Today, a gentleman named Sushil Gareja helped me with my questions for my insurances and it was an outstanding customer service I can’t talk highly enough of that gentleman. Thank you sir.”

“My insurance agent, Rachel Zhu, has been very helpful with my claim. After I explained what happened to my property, she asked me a few questions and promptly decided to file a claim with my insurance company. She is willing to assist me in communicating with my claims adjuster anytime I need, and her performance has exceeded my expectations. I truly appreciate her high work efficiency and professionalism!”
