We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Expertise and Teaching Style: We chose singing lessons that combine technical knowledge with an engaging teaching approach. Clear communication is essential, and we prioritised instructors who can adapt to different learning styles.
  • Lesson Content: Lessons must cover important vocal techniques like breathing control, pitch accuracy, and range expansion. We assessed this by looking through their curriculum.
  • Flexibility and Accessibility: We considered whether lessons are available in-person or online and if students can choose between private or group sessions.
  • Student Support: We asked students if they received personalised feedback to track their progress. We also considered the availability of additional resources and programs.

I remember back in college when I tried to impress a girl by singing to ask her out. In my head, I thought I was really sounding like John Mayer. In reality, let’s just say the performance didn’t land, and neither did the date.

But don’t let my tragic musical debut discourage you. If you have the dedication, then all that’s left is someone who can give you the right guidance to improve your singing.

To help you, our team roamed around Vancouver in search of the best singing lessons. We found a lot of great instructors, so if you want to know more about them, keep reading!

How much do singing lessons cost in Vancouver?

Singing lessons in Vancouver cost $40-$80 per hour for beginners and $80-$150 for advanced lessons.

Sing With Jill brings a holistic approach to each lesson. Jill’s mantra is to connect her students’ voices on a technical, emotional, and even physical level.

Unlike traditional vocal training that focuses on technique, she helps her students break through mental blocks. One of her students noted how she addresses breath control while also tackling deeper barriers like performance anxiety and self-doubt.

She makes the most of each lesson by getting straight to the point. Before giving feedback, she takes the time to understand each student’s voice and goals to ensure her guidance is effective.

One long-time student who had trained with various teachers said Jill immediately identified issues that had never been addressed before.

She offers both in-person and online lessons, too. Her additional resources, like online courses and a weekly newsletter packed with practical tips, can also help students improve even outside of lessons.

That said, Sing With Jill is focused on one-on-one lessons. If you prefer a group setting and enjoy learning with others, it’s something to keep in mind.

Address: 2468 Scotia St Unit 101

Phone: +1 604-871-0100
Business hours:

  • Monday to Sunday: 10 AM – 9 PM

Chorus Studio isn’t the typical one-on-one vocal training space. Instead, it’s a community of singers coming together for contemporary pop choir rehearsals. Their membership-based choir helps people not only to refine their voices but also to connect through music.

One of the standout aspects about them is their Connection Method. It’s a vocal technique they teach emphasising breath control and alignment. It makes singing feel effortless.

Some of their choir members were surprised by how natural singing felt with this technique compared to others they’d encountered before.

Beyond rehearsals, they also host open mics, karaoke events, and even workshops with industry professionals. They’re a great choice if you don’t want to focus on just singing, but also stage presence, confidence and camaraderie.

Vocal health is also a priority here. Some of their instructors have backgrounds in theatre, so they bring out insights into how performers maintain their voices for big performances.

That said, since most of their sessions are group-based, it might be unsuitable for those who want one-on-one lessons.

Pros

  • Community-based approach
  • Effortless singing techniques
  • Performance opportunities
  • Vocal health focus
  • Social and fun atmosphere

Cons

  • Limited one-on-one lessons
  • Membership model commitment

I’ve learned to sing in a healthy way and found my true voice

“Chorus Studio welcomed me as one of their own, and it’s always a warm experience whenever I go to the studio! I study with Richard Pinto, and I have never been more comfortable with my singing. I’ve learned to sing in a healthy way, and I’ve come to find my true voice. Richard has taught me confidence in my skills and that singing can be breezy! Always always grateful for my Chorus Studio family. I’ve found my people, and I get to do what I love to do.”

I’ve noticed improvements in just a short time here

“At the time of writing this, I’ve done a few vocal lessons with Marie. And in just a short time working together, I’ve noticed significant improvements, more freedom, confidence, trust and comfort with my singing voice. She’s also helped me develop warm-up routines and shared insights around vocal care, whether at home or preparing for the stage. And maybe most importantly, working with her has helped me uncover and grow my love for singing.”
